While having the right attitude is critical for small business owners, VentureBeat contributor Steve Fredrick says that it’s also important for entrepreneurs to bring in the right kind of employees as they work to start a corporation and ensure its success.
Fredrick says that small business owners should first look to make sure that potential employees have some experience, because a smaller company means that less time exists for on-the-job training. He adds that employees with experience are also able to react quicker to new developments.
Startups are also a good fit for workers who are looking for a new challenge in their lives, Fredrick notes. He says a worker looking to accomplish something different will be dedicated, and won’t be afraid to work a little later on occasion. The one type of worker startups don’t want, Fredrick adds, is the one that just wants to punch in and punch out without any real passion.
Hiring the right types of workers will allow small business owners to avoid micromanaging the company. Business Insider’s Bijan Sabet says that ambitious workers will "demand more responsibility" and give the company’s owner more time to focus on the big picture.
