For some people, setting up a home-based business can seem like a welcome respite from the traditional office. But Entrepreneur.com reminds entrepreneurs that forming a company isn’t always easy and lists some ways to make the system work.
The site says that one of the keys to a productive home business owner is their ability to create a schedule. Working from home means that business owners don’t have to work the traditional 9-to-5 hours. Yet it’s still important to enforce a structure to make sure that the work gets done. To help with that structure, Entrepreneur.com recommends setting up daily rituals to signal the start of the work day.
It’s also important to create a separate work space away from the rest of the distractions of the house. The site says that using a spare room for work keeps business owners from absentmindedly wandering around with a laptop. Some business owners told the site it also helps to hang a photo of a dream vacation to keep financial goals in mind.
More home based-businesses are opening every year. Entrepreneur.com cites a recent IDC study which found that 18.4 million Americans worked from home last year – almost 2 million more than in 2008. IDC analysts also expect that 350,000 new home-based businesses every year for the next few years.
