California schools assist entrepreneurs starting companies

California has gotten a reputation as having a tough business climate in economic downturn. According to the Business Relocation Coach, about 114 businesses left the state because of high taxes, undue regulation and "a legal environment stacked against business."

Now, state officials are fighting back and trying to promote the benefits of business incorporation in California by offering some helpful resources to entrepreneurs forming a company. For instance, Seattle PI reports that Santa Clara University is offering a free entrepreneurship program starting in June 2010.

Applicants for the program will be selected based on certain criteria pertaining to a startup’s likelihood for success. Judges will look for well-developed business plans, experienced leaders and potential economic contributions within a year.

"New business ventures will be significant in helping turn around the California economy," Daniel Aguiar, executive director of the business school’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, told the source. He says they hope to help launch 20 California businesses in 20 months with the program.

Entrepreneurs across the country may find there are similar startup resource forums near them. For instance, Forbes reports that New York offers business owners a small business incubator to boost business incorporation in the state.ADNFCR-3052-ID-19754952-ADNFCR
